I’ve had a website on and off since high school, starting with a single handwritten homepage styled with my best attempts at the time to make something “real” feeling. Without any knowledge about VPS or networking, I hosted it on a Raspberry Pi tucked behind my parents router. In College I wanted to clean it up and start posting more regularly. A friend introduced me to static site generators which are great for writing out blog posts in simple markdown. After playing with a couple I settled on hugo and a theme to go along with it.
